Deaf Works Everywhere is our campaign to get more deaf young people into work – and into jobs that inspire them.
Deaf people are twice as likely to be unemployed as their hearing peers, and 90% of our parent members think their child's career options are limited. But we know that with the right support deaf people can work everywhere.
We worked with our Youth Advisory Board to co-create a fully-accessible short film to smash damaging stereotypes and broaden deaf young people’s aspirations. The film features 38 real deaf role models, from a NASA engineer to a driving instructor.
We used influencers, social media and native ads to target the 18,000 deaf young people aged 11 – 16 in the UK. The film was watched over 23,000 times in 3 weeks and the number of deaf young people that agreed with the statement ‘deaf people can do any job’ doubled.
